RIGHTS Foundation (RIGHTS) is an independent non-profit organization founded with a vision of establishing the first homegrown regional development organization to utilize the talents in the region, especially those who are familiar with, understand and appreciate the peculiarity and uniqueness of indigenous elements in the region.

RIGHTS stands for Regional Initiatives for Governance, Human Rights & Social Justice and was founded by Yusmadi Yusoff, a lawyer and former Member of Parliament of Balik Pulau (2008-2013).

Appreciating Uniqueness

Against the backdrop of the existing sensitivities and unique cultural elements within this multi-cultural and diverse region, RIGHTS understands that leaders, thinkers and policy makers from the respective communities must be brought together and have a platform to meet, learn, innovate ideas and ultimately find solutions to these challenges.

The foundation promotes constructive engagement and interaction on the issues of Governance, Human Rights and Social Justice in the region (hereinafter collectively referred to as ÂRIGHTS issuesÊ) through forums, seminars, advocacy work, dialogues and publications.

In providing research and educational information to stakeholders (being interested person(s), groups or organizations) and public in general, RIGHTS aim to organize any appropriate activities and to take pertinent measures in support of the purpose of the trust.

By running, organizing, facilitating and enabling educational programmes pursuant to the trust objectives, RIGHTS aspires to improve regional policies and decision making through research, analysis and engagement.
